I Ur och Skur, nurseries and schools – the concept

The pedagogy “I Ur och Skur” is based on the conviction that children’s need for knowledge, physical activity and togetherness is satisfied through playful experience-based learning. To spend time indoors and outdoors is a central part of the pedagogy and the teachers make daily didactic decisions concerning what is best for the individual, the group and the aim of the activity.
Starting from the child and the group, the role of the teacher is to be jointly reacting, experiencing, exploring and learning. Every teacher working at “I Ur och Skur” is a qualified teacher with leadership training as well as a higher “I Ur och Skur” - education.

Nursery schools, family day nurseries, after-school clubs and schools. "The pedagogy”I Ur och Skur” is today used in nursery schools, family day nurseries, after-school clubs and schools and it is based on the steering documents of each country. At the present time, the ”I Ur and Skur”-pedagogy is used in over 200 nurseries and schools in Sweden and Finland. The pedagogy ”I Ur och Skur” is a working method and not a management method and there are state, municipal and private schools.
